Growing Esteem Responsible Division Management Implementation

Division of the SVP Business Centre

Project Summary

A project was established to develop a local service delivery model for the Division of the Senior Vice-Principal.

Update - October 2009

With the recent finalisation of the resourcing for the Central Business Centre for administrative divisions as part of the Transition to RDM, this project is concluded.

Work involved an investigation of how the division can best manage the local services that need to be delivered as a result of the changes being instigated by Responsible Division Management.  Initially the primary focus was on the Finance and HR activities that need to undertaken; paying bills, recruiting staff etc.

The project was not about how the division delivers the common services of Finance and HR to the Faculties and other administrative divisions.

The project involved a consideration of each service that must be delivered locally in the light of views from stakeholders on how it is best delivered: that is, should this service be delivered within each department of the division, or should the service be aggregate so all the work is done in one place (a business ‘centre’ or cluster)?

Objective

The objective is to develop an efficient model for business services within the Division of the Senior Vice-Principal.  To do this, departments must agree where services should be delivered, and specifically agree which services - in total or in part - should be delivered in a business centre.

The following design principles will inform discussion:
