Review of Property and Campus Services Operations

As part of the Responsible Division Management (RDM) project, a review of the operations of the Property and Campus Services (P&CS) Division was undertaken between February and April 2009. A Steering Committee chaired by Professor Ken Hinchcliff, Dean – Veterinary Science, had oversight of the review process, including providing direction and ensuring a final report on the findings was submitted to the RDM Implementation Taskforce.

Focus of the Review

The review looked at the efficiency and effectiveness of the Division and its structure, and how the service delivery to P&CS' customers could be improved. Client input formed an important part of the analysis and recommendation process of the review.

The review also obtained input from both P&CS staff and clients, specifically on the following:

Review Process

The Steering Committee was appointed in January 2009, and on 28 January 2009 approved the Terms of Reference for the review and the interview process to be conducted.  This process was undertaken between February – April ’09 by Karen Hill, Senior Consultant in the Office of the Senior Vice-Principal, on behalf of the Steering Committee. The P&CS Review Report

Prior to the report being finalised, the Steering Committee discussed the draft report with the Vice-Principal Property & Campus Services.  This was also discussed with P&CS’ General Managers. The final report was completed on 1 May 2009 and subsequently submitted to the following senior University committees on the dates specified:

  1. RDM Implementation Taskforce: 6 May 2009
  2. Senior Executive: 20 May 2009.  A response prepared by the VP (P&CS) and GM’s was also submitted to the 20 May ’09 meeting of Senior Executive.
